Plans included diverse health and welfare plans, flexible spending and health savings accounts, defined contributory and defined benefit retirement plans, as well as work life/health improvement – wellness initiatives.
Benefit Expense Reduction
• Reduced health care plan costs by 10% or $3 million by successfully implementing innovative long-term strategy. Kept plan costs well below national norms in subsequent years. Achieved 10% enrollment in cost effective high deductible health plan with HSA versus the 5% projected to further enhance long-term cost reduction strategies. Case study for other organizations.
• Delivered no premium increase for short term disability plan by orchestrating transition from fully insured to self-insured funding model. Established trust reserves of $130,000 the 1st year, a 2nd year premium reduction of 30%, no premium increase during 3rd year and modest premium increase the 4th year.
• Reduced proposed life insurance premium increase by $130,000 by aggressively investigating life insurance markets and changing sponsoring companies to maximize cost savings.
Program Development and Implementation
• Improved employee health and other benefit plan decision making, provider selection and heightened awareness of healthy behaviors by co-sponsoring with the Director of Fitness and Recreation the popular annual employee health and benefits fair.
• Enhanced the accuracy, timeliness and employee satisfaction toward processing enrollment and other administrative transactions by leading the on time and on budget implementation of HRIS PeopleSoft Payroll, Base Benefits, Benefits Administration and other Self Service modules.
• Broadened employee understanding of financial planning concepts and promoted meeting employer fiduciary responsibilities by establishing a creative and increasingly popular semi-annual series of financial planning workshops offering the choice of diverse topics with different levels of detail tailored to best meet an individual’s interest.
